I’m a chronic abandoner of planners. It’s to the point where one of my 2019 goals is to use only one for the entire year. But to achieve planner peace, it’s essential for me to have something flexible that can change from week to week. Even though I’ll still be using my bullet journal, I’m spending the near year in the H

I’ll be using this beautiful cover from Mochi Things in mint gray. These various covers often go one sale, so avoid paying full price for one.
The Cousin, the edition I’ll be using this year, comes in a larger A5 size and also features a weekly layout in addition to monthly and daily. The Cousin Avec is the full year
How will I be using the Hobonichi?
I started in my bullet journal with listing every aspect of life I want to include in my planner, and then divided it up between my bullet journal and the new Hobonichi.
In addition to my Cousin, I’ll be using a Scribbles That Matter A5 Dotted Notebook Pro in Pastel Pink.
The Monthly Layout
Even though the Hobonichi Cousin is a 2019 planner, it still had a monthly layout for December. I wrote in my schedule and color-coded by shading in the first lefthand box. I didn’t care for the bold font for holidays, but I do appreciate the ample notes space on the lefthand side.
Here’s January’s month with similar color coding, but less aggressive lettering for the holidays. My college has a mini-semester starting in January, so I wrote essential information for my class in the notes section.
Before the first daily layout of the month, there’s a blank page. I used it to map out my goals, how many times a week I wanted to accomplish something, and blog/writing stats and progress.
The Weekly Layout
The weekly layout in the Hobonichi Cousin is full of space, and my schedule is much more free since I will only be taking one course in January. Currently, I’m color-coding mandatory appointments in the weekly layout and using the time segment in the daily layout for more specific time blocking.
Since the weekly layout features a 24-hour format, I’m using the bottom segment to map out homework, papers, and tests for the week.

The Daily Layout
I utilized one of the New Year pages to plan out how I would use the ample space in the daily layout.
The daily layout is full of space, and I wanted to make sure I was using it wisely. A small timebar is already written in, and that’s where I plan to time block my responsibilities for the next day.
Beneath the time bar, I’m planning to log inforation about my physical health, including food, exercise, and water. I’m using my looser schedule to build better habits before the rigor of the spring semester.
The Cousin already highlights five top-priority task spots to the right side of the date. Main homework assignemtns will be listed there, and I’ll break down those tasks and other errands in the main body to the right of the time bar.
Below the main body of tasks, I’ll use the space to plan out blog content, social media posts, and creative writing for the day. I’ll also use this space for pasting any mixed media such as photographs, movie tickets, or art.
